Blog #4 Building a Collaborative Culture
After analyzing Chapter 4, I believed that the entire chapter mainly focused on how every career has a main cultural focus and how that culture is constantly changing over time. This chapter also overviewed how every job has an aspect in which they need to collaberate with others. I believe it is an important part in any career that you communicate with others because you can learn things from other people that you may have never discovered while working solo.
This chapter talked heavily on communication and culture which is perfect for what I am majoring in. I am majoring in Education which is spoken about in this chapter specifically. Becoming an educator it is essential to learn from teacher's that have already experienced things in the career. Working with students in a classroom can make you obtain duties that you did not think you'd have to take on. An educator plays the role of many things besides a teacher in the classroom like comforting them as a friend or parent, helping them like a nurse, joking with them as a friend. all these characteristics fall into being a teacher. New teacher's might have trouble with adjusting to playing the role of different people so that the students can succeed.
It is important to have good communication with other coworkers and other people within your profession. It is always good to be open and learn and share new things with other. Sometimes you can share things with the person next to you or you can read teacher blogs online about different tips and tricks to your career. It is important to build relationships with others while working in your field. In my future teaching career I hope to build trust and relationships with my coworkers and take and give advice to each other. You can learn a lot from people who have experience, for example teachers that have been apart of the school for years. Also as a veteran teacher you can learn new ways of teaching from a new teacher coming into the school. Communicating and sharing culture of the career is important no matter which way the help goes.

Hi Jordyn, I think you did a great job relating your future career as an educator to this chapter that specifically talks about the importance of communication and culture in the workplace. Having good communication with coworkers and students is very important for your profession because it allows you to build trust with the people you collaborate with. I’m majoring in psychology with a minor in childhood studies and I hope to work with young children and for me, having good communication with my clients, coworkers, and my client’s parents is very important in order to get things accomplished the correct way.
ReplyDeleteHi Jordyn! Although this class mostly talks about online communities, a lot of what is stated can also be applied in a classroom setting. Connections and relationships with your students and colleagues are going to help further career and allow you to get more out of your job. I also would like to form strong connection with my coworkers in the healthcare field. How do you think connections with your coworkers will help you with your own students? The chapter helps us learn that trust is also very important when forming these connections and when applying what you have learned to your own career.
